There are two types of homes available in Lahore as elucidated below,

• Furnished houses
• Unfurnished houses

Furnished Houses

The rent of these houses is usually double the rent of unfurnished houses. The rules as mentioned below will also be applicable for furnished houses. Sometimes as mutually agreed by both the parties, landlord and the tenant, the tenant pays the total rent of 11 months in advance to the landlord. Under this category the tenant does not deposit the security to the landlord.

All types of taxes, property tax and wealth tax of furnished and unfurnished houses will be paid by the landlords. 

Unfurnished Homes

If a tenant desires to get a house on rental bases in Lahore the following rules and regulations will be implemented.

• The tenant is required to deposit the security equal to one month’s rent to the landlord.
• Usually, the landlord has a written agreement with the tenant for 11 months.
• The landlord has the right to ask the tenant to vacate the house with a month’s advance notice.
• All utility charges; electricity, gas, phone, water will be paid by the tenant.
• After vacating the house the security payment will be refunded to the tenant after deduction if any of damages by the tenant (breakage of any item of the building and unpaid bills).
