The Panama's Relations with International Community
For chronological, geological and monetary basis, Panama has an extremely close association with the US. According to the 1977 Torrijos-Carter accords, control of the Canal was passed back to Panama on 31 December 1999. The US retreated all military personnel and military facilities were brought back.
Panama is currently having a membership of United Nations General Assembly including most of the major agencies of United Nations. Panama has served the three terms in the United Nations Security Council. On January 1, 2007 Panama began to assist a two year term on the Security Council. Panama holds membership in various International momentary institutions. These institutions are including the World Bank, Inter American Development Bank and International Momentary Fund. Panama has memberships in Organization of American States and The Rio Group. Panama is also a member of Group of Eight. Panama is one of the starting members of Union of Banana Exporting countries and Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission.
Trade and Investment with UKPanama enjoys good relationships with United Kingdom. United Kingdom is investing heavily in the services sectors of the Panama country. Services sector is very prosperous business opportunity within the country and contributing 80% percent of total GDP of the country. UK sees great potential in Central American countries.
