Moscow's housing rental market underwent changes in 2005. Paradoxically at least at first sight the pace of rise in rental rates slowed against the backdrop of a growing number of potential tenants and renters, which probably indicates that consumers are seeking a new quality of housing matching an acceptable charge. The portraits of renters and housing providers also changed. 

Foreign renters who arrive in Russia with their families, prefer districts near to specialised schools, for instance the English-American school in Pokrovskoye-Stershnevo, the French college on Milyutinsky Pereulok, the British schools in Yasenevo and on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Ulitsa, and the German school in south-western Moscow. Apartments in newly-built elite blocks were gaining great popularity, as well, evolving into serious rivals for deluxe housing in the old segment.
